Interim and full servicing carried out on your driveway, in your work car park, or wherever the car spends its day — across Bridport, Dorchester, Weymouth and West Dorset. No garage drop-off, no courtesy car, no day off work.

What is done on a service

A service is a set of checks and replacements, not a vague once-over. What gets done depends on which service the car is due:

• Interim service — engine oil and oil filter changed, and a check over the things that wear between services: lights, tyres and pressures, brakes, wipers, fluid levels, battery, suspension and steering, exhaust, drive belts.
• Full service — everything in the interim, plus air filter, and the further checks and replacements the manufacturer specifies at the longer interval. Fuel and cabin filters where they are due.

The car’s own service schedule decides which is right for it and when. If you are not sure what yours is due, say what it is and roughly how many miles it has done and you will get a straight answer.

You are told what was found

Anything that needs attention is explained at the time — what it is, whether it is urgent, and what it would cost to put right. Nothing is done beyond the service without you agreeing to it first. If something is fine, you get told that too; not every check has to produce a bill.

Why have it done at home

Because a garage service costs you the work as well as the money. Dropping a car off, arranging a lift, and collecting it again is most of a day. Having it done on the drive while you are indoors, or in the work car park while you are at your desk, costs you the time it takes to hand over the keys.

It also means you can see the work happening and ask about it, which is harder through a workshop door.

Servicing does not affect your warranty

A manufacturer’s warranty is not tied to main-dealer servicing. As long as the car is serviced to the manufacturer’s schedule using parts of matching quality, and the work is recorded, the warranty stands. Your service record is stamped and you keep the invoice.

What it costs

Servicing is priced by what the car needs — engine size and oil specification make a real difference — and you get the full figure confirmed before anything starts. There is a £45 call-out charge on top, told to you before you book. Payment on site, card or cash, when the work is finished.

It is usually worth combining jobs while the van is with you. Tyres can be fitted at the same visit, and brakes, diagnostics and repairs can be dealt with then rather than booking a second call-out.
