Cousins Mechanical Services is based in Bridport and works across West Dorset and the East Devon border. Servicing, tyres and repairs run to normal working hours; breakdown and recovery is 24 hours.
The towns and villages
Bridport & DT6
Home ground. Bridport, West Bay, Bothenhampton, Allington, Bradpole and the surrounding lanes. Same-day work is usually possible here and a breakdown call-out is normally the quickest of anywhere we cover.
Dorchester
About twenty-five minutes up the A35. Regular territory for servicing and tyres, and one of the more common recovery destinations because of the road itself — the A35 between Bridport and Dorchester generates a fair share of the breakdowns we attend.
Weymouth & Portland
Covered for servicing, tyres and repairs, and for recovery. Worth booking ahead where the job is not urgent, since it is the furthest regular run from base and a fixed slot beats waiting on a gap.
Lyme Regis & Charmouth
Along the coast to the west. The hills either side of Lyme are hard on clutches and brakes, and that is reflected in what we get called out to there. Parking is tight in season — tell us where the car actually is when you book and it saves a lap of the town.
Beaminster & the northern villages
Beaminster, Netherbury, Broadwindsor, Mosterton and the lanes between. Rural work, often on driveways with plenty of room, which suits the bigger jobs.
Burton Bradstock, Chideock & the coast road
The villages along and off the B3157 and the A35 west. Short runs from Bridport and easy to fit around other work in the area.
Axminster & Crewkerne
Just over the county line into East Devon and up into South Somerset. Both are covered; for non-urgent work it is worth booking rather than calling on the day.
How far do you travel?
The working radius is roughly forty miles from Bridport, which takes in everything above and most of what sits between. If you are near the edge of that, ring and ask rather than assuming — you will get a straight yes or no and, if it is a no, usually a suggestion of who is closer.
Do you charge more for further away?
No. The £45 call-out charge is the same wherever you are inside the area we cover, and it is confirmed before you book. What distance changes is how quickly we can be with you, not the price.
