Terms & Conditions
These terms govern the mobile mechanic, tyre fitting, servicing and breakdown/recovery services provided by Cousins Mechanical Services Ltd. Please read them before booking. By booking a job with us — online, by phone, by WhatsApp or in person — you agree to these terms.
1. Who we are
Cousins Mechanical Services Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a company registered in England & Wales, company number 16045339, registered office 7 Watton Park, Bridport, England, DT6 5NJ. You can reach us on 07925 340977, 01308 538046, by WhatsApp, or by email at help@cousinsmechanicalservices.co.uk.
2. Quotes and bookings
A quote we give is based on the information you provide (vehicle registration, tyre size, symptoms, location). It is an estimate and not a fixed price unless we confirm it in writing. A booking is only confirmed once we send you a confirmation with a job reference. We may decline or reschedule a job if the vehicle, location or work turns out to be materially different from what was described, or is unsafe for us to work on.
3. Prices and payment
Prices for tyres and parts are shown at the time of booking and may change if supplier prices change before the job is carried out; we will tell you before fitting if a price has changed, and you are free to cancel at that point at no cost. Additional work found necessary during a job will be quoted and only carried out with your approval. Payment is due on completion unless agreed otherwise. We accept card payments on site and cash. Any discount recorded on your account is applied at our discretion and does not create an ongoing entitlement.
4. Cancellations, rescheduling and wasted call-outs
You can cancel or reschedule a booking free of charge by giving us reasonable notice — at least 24 hours where possible. If our engineer attends at the agreed time and place and cannot carry out the work because the vehicle is not available, access is not provided, or the information given was materially wrong, we may charge a call-out fee to cover our time and travel. Where such a fee applies we will have told you the amount when you booked.
5. Your responsibilities
You must give accurate details about the vehicle and the problem, make sure the vehicle is legally parked and safely accessible, and confirm that you are the owner or are otherwise authorised to instruct work on it. For roadside work you are responsible for telling us of any hazards at the location. Vehicles are worked on at your risk except to the extent that loss or damage is caused by our negligence (see section 8).
6. Tyres, parts and disposal
We fit tyres and parts suitable for your vehicle based on the size and specification confirmed at booking. Where you supply the size yourself, it is your responsibility to check it against the sidewall of your current tyre before ordering. Old tyres and parts we remove are disposed of responsibly on your behalf unless you ask to keep them; an environmental disposal charge may apply and will be shown on your quote.
7. Guarantees and workmanship
New tyres and parts carry the manufacturer’s warranty. Our own workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first, against faulty fitting or installation — if something we fitted fails because of how we fitted it, we will put it right. Guarantees do not cover fair wear and tear, misuse, road-hazard damage (punctures, kerbing, impacts), damage caused by continuing to drive on a known fault, or faults in parts you supplied yourself.
8. Liability
We carry out our work with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, our total liability in connection with any job is limited to the price paid for that job, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Pre-existing faults, and faults unrelated to the work we carried out, are not our responsibility.
9. Breakdown and recovery
Where we provide breakdown or recovery, we will use reasonable efforts to attend promptly, but arrival times are estimates and depend on traffic, weather and demand. Recovery is provided to a destination agreed with you within our operating area. For longer distances we will agree the rate with you before we set off.
10. Your right to cancel (online and off-premises bookings)
Because our services are usually arranged at a distance and carried out at your home or the roadside, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you 14 days to cancel. If you ask us to start work within that period you agree that we may begin, and once the work is completed you lose the right to cancel. If you cancel part-way through, you may be charged for the work already done.
11. Complaints
If something is not right, contact us as soon as possible on 01308 538046 or help@cousinsmechanicalservices.co.uk and we will try to put it right. If we cannot resolve it between us, you may be able to take the matter to an alternative dispute resolution provider or to the courts.
12. Data protection
We handle your personal data in line with our Privacy Policy.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England & Wales and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
